This sign begins your welcome to the heart of Arizona. Payson is located in the, almost exact, geographic center of Arizona and is the gate way to Arizona's rim country. The Town of Payson is some where around 65 miles north of Phoenix, Arizona
and is part of what locals call the Rim Country which includes Payson, Pine, Strawbery, Star Valley and a number of other small cluster communities. It has an elevation of close to 5000 feet above sea level and a population, according to 2006 census estimates, of a little over 15ooo. It is surrounded by The Tonto National Forest which allows access to hiking, fishing, horseback riding, atving, rock hunting and many more outdoor activities.
